Sculpture- Mark Hirscheberger

The shape that I made my portion of the cardboard box out of was a swell/bulge. At first, I thought this shape would be very difficult to make since cardboard is rather rigid and swells are more organic and flowing. I researched swells and found pictures of waves. Waves have a unique shape; they seem to cave in on themselves. I thought this was an interesting concept, so I tried to make have my cardboard shapes cave in on each other. I made two waves on top of a tilted platform. The first wave seems to engulf the second, smaller wave. The two waves are placed on a tilted, rounded platform to make the waves seem like they are forced to fall over.
